COUNTY RESOURCES

This section of the California Hepatitis Resource Center serves as the focus on viral hepatitis in California by accumulating, through the help of the general public, a thorough list of county resources that are available, including public health clinics, special screening programs, other agencies to provide peripheral support such as HIV groups, alcohol and substance abuse, and task force efforts.

MODEL PROGRAMS

Each county may want to share a model program on viral hepatitis, including primary and secondary prevention programs. By sharing programs, we believe that California will be able to improve services through effective management of both funds and effectiveness of our endeavors. If your organization has a program that has been developed that you would like to share with others, or if you have a program in development that you would like support with from another county resource, please email to the web master of this site.

HEPATITIS C TASK FORCE MOVEMENT AND STRATEGIC PLANS

In 2000, a collaborative approach to the emerging hepatitis C epidemic was addressed through the formation of a steering committee and a working group by the California Department of Health Services. After 1 year of meetings and plan preparation, the Hepatitis C Strategic Plan was approved and distributed in 2001. This entire plan can be reviewed and printed at Hepatitis C Strategic Plan for California.

Throughout the State of California, counties and other agencies have been putting together groups of people and organizations representative of their regions for the purpose of forming regional task forces’ and developing local strategic plans on hepatitis C. The California Hepatitis Resource Center is in the process of identifying all of these efforts and will post them to this section as they become known. You can visit sites and find information about these task force/advisory council/strategic plan efforts. In 2001, a larger group in California was formed comprised of county representatives and others leading the regional task force and strategic planning efforts called the California Hepatitis C Task Force. More information will be provided to us about this statewide membership in the near future.
